Atlantis is the only shop able to customize to your agency’s needs utilizing multiple Public Safetyagencies and certification agencies. All Atlantis Public Safety Instructors are staff, not contractors, and we are the only shop in the area who do not use outside instructors from other companies. AllAtlantis Divers staff instructors train and work on real public safety dive teams. We don’t just teach, we do this for real. Atlantis Divers also has written several dive training courses being used today to train public safety dive teams. We are the only full ERDI facility in the Richmond Metro area and are the only operation authorized to teach NAUI PSD – we wrote the course.

Atlantis is extremely proud to have trained on of the BEST Volunteer Rescue Squad Dive Team in Virginia!! Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad Dive Team not only competed in the rescue diver contest at the 76th VAVRS Convention, they took home the first place trophy in their first appearance as a dive team!

PADI Public Safety Diver

The new PADI Public Safety Diving course is designed to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards of public safety diving. The course covers several key topics that include:

* specialized public safety diving equipment
* scene handling
* communication procedures
* search patterns
* witness handling
* victim and self rescue techniques

Water skills include a variety of common, useful search patterns as well as team diving roles as primary diver, safety diver, tender, 90 percent diver and supervisor. The program uses proven field techniques and both meets and addresses important National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) guidelines found in NFPA 1006 and 1670 (not including disciplines Ice 9/3/7, Surf 9.2.8, or Swift 9.3.9)

Emergency Response Diving International

ERDI 1
This entry level emergency response diving course is designed to give the public safety diver the fundamental skills needed to safely function as part of a public safety dive team and is OSHA and NFPA compliant. Topics such as problem solving, tender skills, search patterns and evidence handling are covered just to name a few. Dive skills include executing search patterns, victim recovery, emergency procedures and decontamination procedures among others. ERD I also serves as a prerequisite to ERD Ops Components courses.

ERDI 2
This ERDI course enables the public safety diver to develop detailed knowledge and advanced skills in emergency response diving. Among the topics covered are manner of death, physiological changes a submerged body undergoes, mechanics of drowning, handling of remains environmental issues, encapsulation, full face mask and drysuit use. As part of the certification requirements during the six dives, students will also master drysuit and full face mask skills.

ERDI Tender
The ERD Tender course trains team personnel to properly line tend and participate within the public safety dive team in a non-diving roll. ERD Tender is also part of the ERD I course curriculum so that an entire team can participate and train to their individual needs. Crime scene recognition, search patterns and decontamination procedures are some of the topics covered. In addition, ERD Tender students learn and master tending skills in both confined water and open water settings.

ERDI Dry Suit Ops
The ERD Drysuit OPS course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills that are necessary for drysuit diving operations in emergency response diving. In addition to the fundamental skills of drysuit diving, other important topics include encapsulation, contaminated environments, protecting potable water supplies and decontamination procedures. Drysuit OPS training is also part of the ERD II curriculum.

ERDI Full Face Mask
The ERD Full Face Mask course provides the skills and knowledge for the ERD diver to utilize full face masks for emergency response diving. While basic full face mask topics and skills are presented, other topics and skills include encapsulation, communications with a full face mask, selecting proper masks for emergency response diving and decontamination procedures. Full Face Mask OPS training is also part of the ERD II curriculum.

NAUI Public Safety Diver

This Certification is only offered at Atlantis Divers!

This scalable training offers one of the largest most recognizable certification agencies in the business and scales to meet your team’s ever-changing needs.

NAUI PSD1 Awareness
This course provides basic training in the necessary skills for participation in open water public safety diving for the professional rescue worker.
Upon successful completion, the NAUI PSD1 Diver will be able to function as a team member and/or support member within a public safety dive rescue team.
This course is designed to be able to use a team’s specific equipment and customize scenarios to meet team specific missions during all confined training and the four open water divers.

Course will cover:
 Understanding Recreational Diver versus the Emergency PSD
 Building your team
 Equipment
 Professionalism
 Training
 Operations
 Solving the problem
 Responding to the emergency
 Search patterns
 The crime scene
 Hazmat and environment
 Tender operations

And much more. This class is perfect for all new divers on your team and only takes 4 days.

NAUI PDS2 Technician
This 6 day course trains the public safety diver to develop detailed knowledge and advanced skills in public safety rescue and response diving. Training includes both in confined and open water proper full face mask and drysuit use. As part of the certification requirements during the six dives, students will also master drysuit and full face mask skills, along with limited penetration in overhead environments and emergency diver operations.

NAUI PSD 3 Operations (Supervisor)
This 5 day class is for your public safety dive team captains and supervisors, the training you will receive in the PSD 3 Operations course will prepare you to supervise the dive team operations as well as assist Instructors with training. NFPA standards, supervising divers in varying conditions and inter-agency operations are some of the topics covered. This course is OSHA and NFPA compliant. In addition, the Supervisor course serves as a base to develop leadership qualifications and create further in house training for your team. During the open water training segment of the course, some of the skills ERD candidates will demonstrate mastery of: search patterns, proper evidence handling techniques, incident command and supervision of the scene from initial arrival through final debriefing.

All teams are assigned an accounts specialist to ensure all your needs were met. All equipment procured is dealer prepared and inspected by Atlantis Divers factory trained technicians.
